Tiny Boxes

We are a lost cause
Our minds are kept in tiny boxes
and we've swallowed the key

I want to break free from myself
I bang into these walls
I scream until the voice has left the room
And I'm caught between two hard places
My box and me

A box cannot contain me
The mind cannot be smarter than its confinement
Because the more I try to leave
The more I miss my tiny box
And all of its misery

Don't unlock me
Don't regurgitate the key
Just understand that our world isn't free
Our minds are owned by something intangible
We are bought out by our boxes
We are its property

If all we do is pretend to walk, will we reach our destination?
For a sailor cannot close his eyes and trust the ship to find shore
Our eyes are deceiving us
Our boxes are killing us

But what a sin it would be
If I left my hated box
How lost would I be
If someone liberated me
All we choose to do is sit
And hope our boxes never leave
