HOT AND STEAMY SUMMER - II

(Another poem inspired by the ‘Hot & steamy’ ‘Summer Sex Guide’ in the Daily Star newspaper, 29 June 2017.)

Summer can be hot and steamy,
With the lover’s eye more gleamy
As part-nude bodies mill around,
On beaches or at swimpools found
(Forgetting places where undress
Descends to ‘skinny’ or topless).
Distance from old folks at home
Lets the eye, mind, hearts and hands roam.
Work’s daily grind most of the year
Is ‘another country’ out here.
Air of rest and relaxation
Invites impulsive copulation.
The inner ‘good time girl’, ‘playboy’,
Comes out for others to enjoy.
Many a holiday romance
Gets in such settings its best chance.

Couples, eyes just for each other,
Singles hoping for a lover
Or just a wild opportune fling –
All get warmed up towards ‘bonking’.
Hands follow the lead of the eyes,
Lead to mergings of thighs in thighs.
British reserve, ‘stiff upper lip’,
Melts, as holidaymakers strip
Down to skimpy swimming costumes,
Then to nothing in hotel rooms
Or open places out of view,
For a passionate “I love you”,
While rowdy souls not so discreet,
Under too much drink bonk in-street,
From which they may rude awaken
In cooler by police taken.
