the Love You Took
Set my heart back inside
you leave it in a glass case
hang it on display
in your room of disarray
the only thing left untouched
inside the madness
the sadness
the grief in your eyes
and so you stare at the lines
the vessels and the hues
you take your time in the evening
to watch it beating just for you
the only thing untouched
inside your madness
your sadness
the grief in your eyes
I have never strayed
I've been here
just an arm's reach away
day by day I start to fade
you still have my heart
in it's little glass cage
you watch its beating slow
dying while you waste away
pour yourself another glass
grieving at your past
I was there beside you
you never gave me another chance
the only thing untouched
inside your madness
your sadness
the grief in your eyes
the only thing untouched
in your room of scattered books
torn pages
your rages
I was misunderstood
and now you understand
now you understand
you understand..
the love that you took
you leave it in a glass case
hang it on display
in your room of disarray
the only thing left untouched
inside the madness
the sadness
the grief in your eyes
and so you stare at the lines
the vessels and the hues
you take your time in the evening
to watch it beating just for you
the only thing untouched
inside your madness
your sadness
the grief in your eyes
I have never strayed
I've been here
just an arm's reach away
day by day I start to fade
you still have my heart
in it's little glass cage
you watch its beating slow
dying while you waste away
pour yourself another glass
grieving at your past
I was there beside you
you never gave me another chance
the only thing untouched
inside your madness
your sadness
the grief in your eyes
the only thing untouched
in your room of scattered books
torn pages
your rages
I was misunderstood
and now you understand
now you understand
you understand..
the love that you took
