I Could Only Imagine
I could only imagine
your soft brown hair
blowing in the wind
I could only imagine
your eyes so innocent
your lovely voice
the way you would sing
I could only imagine
Little hands reaching for comfort
little feet kicking with laughter
prince or princess it's up to you
you could have anything pink or blue
I could only imagine
you were a goal and a dream
my burden and my freedom
I could only imagine
holding you for the first time
saying your name
and having it be real
watching you grow
Oh, the joy I would feel..
yet you slipped from my grasp
it was out of my hands
this dream couldn't last
I could only imagine

Hi fieryangelsouljiay. Obviously a very sad & wistful poem here. I like the way you have tackled this write though, the repetition, reminding us of its theme. The most intriguing line for me is: 'My burden and my freedom.' It's the contradiction I find so fascinating. I am sorry for your loss however. It is a shame such poems have to be written. :-(
