BABY, YOU CAN HAVE MY NUMBER
I am a single guy, who lives (and sleeps) alone;
If you'd like, I'll give you the number of my phone
So, at your convenience, we'll carry on the chat.
You'll be talking to me when I am at my flat,
Able to imagine that we are face to face,
Eye to eye, voice to voice, at my bachelor place.
I believe if one talks to one on their home ground
The real 'them', not a public mask, is truly found.
We can tell each other how we feel and as it is,
Nobody else looking in on our private biz.
You have said how thankful you are for my company
(A compliment I admit deeply touches me),
And that you are taken with the sound of my voice.
My number I will give you, if you state your choice.
If your answer is no, I won't be offended;
If yes, this number I give you, hand extended.
With my number's secrecy I'm not quick to part;
I give it but to those who deep impress my heart,
Who are worth letting have the time of day (or night),
Whose presence, at least in spirit, would be delight.
So, you will not find yourself waiting in a queue
Of other women with claims to my "I love you".
I'm not the maddest, baddest, most dangerous of men.
If you get the urge to ring, girl, follow your yen.
If you'd like, I'll give you the number of my phone
So, at your convenience, we'll carry on the chat.
You'll be talking to me when I am at my flat,
Able to imagine that we are face to face,
Eye to eye, voice to voice, at my bachelor place.
