Commemoration I: Southern France, Age of Accountability

Lavender, purple oasis
beyond golden wheat
of a Promised Land

Mediterranean azure
lining the Province
of St Paul de Vence

Life-Friends flower wildly
burgeoning adolescence
amid fruit-laden branches

The twisted Apple
its arthritic stem, fluffy
blossom in their hands

Young chins harvest
dripping to insects. . .
wormy scavengers

He a boy, barely man
nobley helping her
from the tree

Became no match
for the fallen blouse
beneath her nippled breast

Accountability, coming
of age, how it altered
their dynamics of play

What was Youth beneath
their skin, bled maiden
and manhood that day

Virginity, precious pome
freely gifted to each
young tongue

Marked a Beginning
ingrained even today
within their Memory
~
