Work hard,  make money, invest as much as you can in growth and income, couple of high flyers for the action thrill  

America is fucked just like everyplace is fucked but you are still mostly free  

George W. talked about freedom all the time, I hated him as President but he was right on about the beauty of freedom  

This turd now is corrupt as the day is long but he's what we have.  Impeachment would be a fun kick for about 5 minutes until the economy plunged and White Head took over and started sending everyone to be reprogrammed into white picket fence republiCANTS as I call them .....

yao so right poet... yes, but how much freakin' freedom do we have? yes ya still mostly free, that mostly leaves a lot out though. I hate to share my name with the middle of Bush II, he took away a lot of freedom to keep some of it- no doubt. Patriot Act comes to mind. But yes, we got what we got. The trouble with American Democracy is that it is run but Republikills who want the poor to starve to death by taking away food stamps. They want the poor to be stupid so they take away money for public education and college assistance. They want the poor to die of sickness so they take away health care, then expect the poor to be too illiterate to read the truth so they will believe no one dies from a lack of health care. Republikills also believe in sending the poor into war so their rich sons and daughters can go to the finest universities to become doctors and lawyers and CEOs to stay filthy stinking rich. jj

I believe you have made the mistake of believing that the State was corrupted by Capitalism, rather than the other way around. Democracy is simply mob-rule, where I feel Capitalism represents the cumulative result of individual choices (votes, one could say), not stagnated partisan opinions over self serving politicians. I'm new by the way :)
