faded glitter
my poetry has turned to ash
I can taste it on my tongue
it has no flavor
grit & bite is all that's left
stars that once shone on me
glitter on other planes
just out of reach
I phene for their favor
that I may sparkle
by their graceful light
I am neither here nor there
caught in a dead zone
with dried up vistas
love that doesn't quench
my dreadful thirst
unrequited lust
I hold like dust in my hands
it is blown away by the winds
of today
carried away
by the thoughts of tomorrows
that will never be
you're my muse
my passion
will you shine your favor
on me today?
or will you allow my love
to fade into the background?
another star
that shot across the night sky
just to burn out

Below the ash the embers still burn as the passion of the night cools. From yonder gazes a longing seduction... It knows the flame needs new breath to burn... Closer she comes and long smoldering sparks arise once more with the moon...She will return dear

While I disagree that your poetry has turned to ash, I recognise an uninspired feeling. I love your writing. Keep at it, it is always at your fingertips. Thank you for this write as it is good to feel I am not alone:)

Re. faded glitter
I am grateful for coming in contact with you.
You write the kind of poetry which consumes me.
Thank you.

Your words are still a long way from the ash heap, and if you lack inspiration it doesn't show, Lady Crim. I haven't been feeling galvanized myself lately but I try to keep scribbling. You continue to astonish, so maybe your glitter will one day turn to gold.

Love this write, my friend! The thing about NaPo is that it teaches you that no matter what is or how you feel, there is always poetry.

This is beautifully expressive. The imagery spot on. I think you're just recharging. You'll come back even more incandescent than before. Seems to be a lot of that going on around us lately. May your glimmer rise again quickly, dark angel

And out of the ash she will rise, born anew.
Poetry comes, finding us when our backs are turned.
Or..... perhaps it never left?
Beautiful, even now...

poem of fading glory, Crim, like that shooting star;
Edna St. Vincent Millay, whose candle burned at both ends,
said 'it makes a lovely light.' ...

There those that can only wish they could
write a 'burnt out' piece such as this n there are those who exhale, n this is simply a 'jotting' of passing thought...
Thanks for jotting your thoughts Crim, it helps to know just how truly gifted you really are :)

My Beautiful Brenda, the first stanza alone has a flavor which can be tasted like iron...right from the first line as teeth sunk into my bottom lip...the day you don't shine is one I can never imagine...even in this plea the star in you shines ever bright...blinding in its eloquence and grace only to burn images of the same into my soul...
So much love for you beautiful one!
Love Taryn xoxo
