BREATH
Of breath water love
Breath is best
As long as you are breathing
The other two will come
As if the flowers care
We are smoke walking
Constantly doused and stoked
By doubts and lust
Cheer up ignore these words
just as the flowers ignore my words
Better to cultivate breath
Like one thirsty for love
And know love like you know air
and water the flowers everywhere
Ingest love without obsession
Not like possessions possess
Or drugs drug
Love not like a worker on pay day
Rampaging through the shops and bars
I pray you do not love like I have done
Nights waiting for smoke with beady eyes
Or gobbling my heart in a hermits cave
But like silent moonlight
and sunlight on flowers everywhere
On lovers below covers or from love above
Breathlessly buried in my body abode
Ouch startled by swarm stings
As if death was important
A candle a boat or a bowl
Instead as thoughtless as breath
Live blessed
as a bee on flowers everywhere

Where I live, the blossom is currently amazing and bees are everywhere (thankfully), so these last two lines are particularly vibrant for me. I found the in-between italicised lines carrying their parallel story add much to the poem.

what is life what is soul..the sadhus n sages just point to that breathed in air. its the secret, its the longevity, and you dsay more..loved each breath of a word..but more the longest stanza where you say of love ..
the last verse interestingly points as if the attached yet detached need. juz me:)

This was the stinger for me. Um. There's so much said in the beauty of silence, Brother. And then so more seen with both the eye and Spirit.

Whale, I really like this piece from start to finish. It takes me on a journey right with you. It is a constant reminder we all need to take those breaths and enjoy each one dearly.

really delighted this is my first write you've kept:) yes there's a million programmes/books etc on food but doubt a handful outside of specific practices about breathing - worth thought

So much to be learned within the depths of this piece... and certainly not the least , In realizing That :
tranquility could to be ours, if could but love...and live without added complexities....as simply as in the appreciation of the soft love and beauty found in Nature....as this concept should be as easily accomplished as breathing....necessary, but automatic without complexity of thought....
This one--Sooo many quotable parts....so breath-catching in creative beauty

Dear enchantress - it is joy to find u here yes love should be as automatic as breathing or if anything we could even swap their roles because breathing is done so badly and 😂let love be the automatic function and breathing the one that we struggle to deepen and perfect...
