My Sweet Dog is Gone 10 Days Now

People who have lost pets get it
They know the vacancy in your heart
I pass the box that contains her ashes
Haven't had the will yet to look inside

Her ceremony is on Friday
Friends will gather to see her ashes spread
The park was her favorite place
Trying to climb a tree
or basking in the sunlight on the esplanade

I wrote her eulogy the other day
Kind of wrote itself  
First line is :
 Why Did She Have to Die ?
 
I'm gonna have a hard time at the end
The emotion will get to me
I've done this for two parents
It's not all sad, there's some funny stuff too

I'm gonna cry
I have no answers
Just memories of my mixed breed hound
Guess that's gotta be enough
