Figured Something Out

Somewhere along the way I figured    
something out. From the vast smörgåsbord    
of spirituality during    
my long search, I was offered the full    
range from a very sincere ‘instant    
enlightenment’ to 40 years zen    
practice with no guaranteed results.    
The former was easier to prove    
a snake-oil salesman’s lie than the lat-    
ter. Dozens of other variants    
passed my nose. I paid money for some    
and with huge frustration for them all.    
Those who seek might find, or they may not.    
Ditto for those who knock earnestly.    
And many who ask get a blank stare.    
That’s why people give up - it’s all too    
fickle. Folk experience they have    
no clout. Nevertheless, somewhere a-    
long the way I figured something out.
