Walking Your Pain
You walk around with your head bowed to the wind
Because it’s so cold this spring
And you’re bound up in your winter clothes
With April running just ahead
Keeping pace with you and not slowing down at all
And you wonder if it will ever get warm again
You could go to the south
But it’s just not the same down there
The Ontario spring is so beautiful when you’re away from the manmade shit
It might bring your heart back to life again
And you wonder to yourself
Just how long this process lasts
To take you from angry to fully accepting it doesn’t seem right
You don’t know that you’ve got that kind of time on your hands
We’ve all been through it before
And we’ve seen it come and go
But when you put some wrinkles on it and time means so much
It takes so much out of you that it’s just not right
Wondering why
Wondering when it happened
Wondering who
Because there always is one
It makes the time go slower still
And the Ontario spring is still throwing snow
It fits in with your heart
You turn back from this long walk to sit by the fireside
But you’ll be back out here again
When tomorrow shows its light
Maybe you’ll begin to feel alright
You can tell yourself that but it
Doesn’t make it true
It doesn’t make it real at all
