WILD
Before this time there was a time
When I couldn't stand without falling
For only wild souls stand still
And aye here's a cliff
And 'pon the cliff a tree
That leans towards
The sky the sea and fall
And now I am the tree
Dare no storm tarry me
Nor carry me below
To scree foam and squall
Some will bray others pray
But I will stand before you all
The akratic the erratic
The squawkers that maul
Aye the wild knows me
Well the wind knows me
A hello in heaven and
Haven in the hellish claw
When I couldn't stand without falling
For only wild souls stand still
And aye here's a cliff
And 'pon the cliff a tree
That leans towards
The sky the sea and fall
And now I am the tree
Dare no storm tarry me
Nor carry me below
To scree foam and squall
Some will bray others pray
But I will stand before you all
The akratic the erratic
The squawkers that maul
Aye the wild knows me
Well the wind knows me
A hello in heaven and
Haven in the hellish claw

An interesting weave
of words ``wild``
all in steps
to a spiritual climax ...
Enjoyed ...

I want you to know I just read Lord Tennyson's "In Memoriam" again. You know when a poem reminds you of one of your favorite classics it's that good, Brother.
Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creation's final law
Tho' Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek'd against his creed

Hey my sister, a grand quote from a work that inspired me as a nipper ("it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" is another from In Memoriam) - the four line stanzas and iambic quality give a work a stoicism -
it was a Stoic, Marcus Aurelius that inspired "WILD" - be like the promontory against which waves break that stands firm and tames the waters lapping round it
And Aurelius inspired Tennyson often

Powerful work Whale, gorgeously and brilliantly elucidated. I feel the energy crackling in it. I will bray and pray as well lol and always be an ever burning flame that ever rises heavenward, as you will always be a master of akratic wizardry to me. Much love and respect always.

Against wind and spray you're rock brother - in every etching I've left on DU Namaste

I think "pon" should begin with an apostrophe in place of the "u", as tends to be the tradition when you omit a letter for rhythm. I liked this poem. It felt like an old folk song, something to sing to oneself while walking through the woods on a blustery day, or to the strains of a guitar before an audience at a campsite. Also, I like that you taught me a new word in "akrati"! x

Yes I struggled with the apostrophe - but on balance you're right - an old folk song ...mmmm... I like that Jack
