Addiction Adrift

A performer I became
dancing on a stage
proving my best friend
from an early age

Warm comfort you offered
a magic, simply flawless
unquiet and fretful
you presented solace

Until I was betrayed
I saw you as my saviour
yet quickly losing place
you failed to be my armour

You seized my soul
as if it was a gift
left me on the ocean
simply set adrift
