SEAGULL
Even this seagull over land against a grey sky
This cigarette in my hand is beautiful
For you made this world for me
This nettled path
This wording don't go there
And other signs
The muddy pools in the tractor tracks
The manure on the air
The wind that holds me back
Till the way became the world
And the world the way
The dark on light
On a notepad of my dreams
For all is just as it is
And nothing is as it seems
For this is it
With no heaven to escape to
Shall I dream your dreams here
And mould a paradise from manure and mud
And swallow the air you exhale
Sculpted in the light of my sight
Pooling your sweat in my navel
Seeking you in the space between the stars
But most of all
Be happy here
Another thing
Among ten thousand things you hold dear
This cigarette in my hand is beautiful
For you made this world for me
This nettled path
This wording don't go there
And other signs
The muddy pools in the tractor tracks
The manure on the air
The wind that holds me back
Till the way became the world
And the world the way
The dark on light
On a notepad of my dreams
For all is just as it is
And nothing is as it seems
For this is it
With no heaven to escape to
Shall I dream your dreams here
And mould a paradise from manure and mud
And swallow the air you exhale
Sculpted in the light of my sight
Pooling your sweat in my navel
Seeking you in the space between the stars
But most of all
Be happy here
Another thing
Among ten thousand things you hold dear

waning with the Seagulls
on shore and sand
is where their history is scribe`d
and nothing else compares
but is envied; I feel a strong
connection with this piece ...
beautiful ink, Whale

Blesses me so with the ritual of walking. The blessing of land under foot. Of the simple creatures sent to remind us of the beauty of being alive.
Thank you for this little moment of peace.

Stunning, Brother. To be content with the simple pleasures of Creation at our fingertips is gratitude for the tiniest of things.

For in as much as we all have our places upon this Earth ...are bound and connected to all things---to all those creatures, both great and small--may we discover, with gratitude and humility, contentment, fulfillment, and joy....in the celebration of Life....

God that is gorgeous Whale. Especially the close. It is a gift to see the beauty in small things. To be truly mindful. I was sitting beside the avenue during my walk earlier, taking a short break, finding the cars whirring by on the avenue noisome. Then I decided to notice the breeze moving subtly through the saw grass, waving the fingers of bushes and rustling the leaves of trees. A song bird calling and another answering, somewhere not that far nor nearby. Pale blue sky and dots of clouds that will never look quite that way again. There is much to enjoy whilst we yet live.

"And mould a paradise from manure and mud" - really love this line, it kind of kicks along the momentum of the poem really well.

This is such an earthy and sensual poem, so sharply potent in its images, which are little pictures of the world that stick in the mind. The ancient Chinese poets were skilled at capturing this immediate and intoxicating evocation of the natural world, and this poem fits that tradition nigh perfectly, whether it intended to or not. Thank you for this reading experience, it was simply marvellous, in its directness and lack of pretension. x
