Strength of a Woman

A selfless heart asked
time and time again..
To give all that she is
until the end.

Heart so exhausted
almost giving in...
Loving and giving
all of herself to him.

Just asking and pleading
for some small sign...
That some of what's
given will return with time.

Just wanting to have
him whole once again...
Returned as he was
when they first began.

Remembering the passion
they once shared...
Remembering the depths
of how he cared.

Just wanting and wishing
upon a star...
She knows in her mind
it will not get her far.

She has given all and
loved him so long...
Not out of weakness
because she is strong.

Hope is withering and
growing so thin..
But she will not leave
because she loves him.
