I forget my past and there

with your love burning deep
and your lust searing my soul
You worry, sometimes.

About me fleeing
Finding something new
someone else

   & the inability to trust
Falls like raindrops on a roof
Loud, clear and discomforting

But you, of blond and blue
see through me,
know I'd never seek
anyone but you
as
long as
the sun rises & falls
and birds soar to heights
my heart does when you speak

There will only be
the reflection of your smile
Imprinted within eyes the
colour of instant coffee

no one has ever
told me they loved me
in my own language
(When they are ethnically
not the same)

You have proven
that every second
with you is the heaven
my hell desperately seeks

& someday
Maybe five, ten years from now
I will look at our first born
and laugh at how he calls you
'Daddy'
&
watch as we teach him
how to ride a bike

We will argue
about stupid things
like whose turn it is
to do the dishes

And
Whether we left clothes
lying around without
putting them in the
laundry basket

I will have
given up smoking

And begged
to sleep in
your t-shirt
so your scent
seeps through my skin

So that I
will have a part of you
with me as your mind carries
you faraway, casting dreams
you may or may not share

It is these moments
that will cause me to fall
deeper than I ever thought I could
