there's a moment of silence
that stretches and expands to fill a room
this moment of silence is born from your mind
when you make the decision to move forward
with consequences unknown and reasons saturated with wanting
and for days later you'll remember that moment of silence
because it was your fork in the road
and without lantern nor map you launched yourself forward
ignoring both roads
into the gaping maw of the dark forest
