the door
the moon was pregnant with wisdom
& it spoke to me
whispered secrets in my ear
it gave birth to words
great ones
for those with a mind to hear
the red dog
who makes people tremble
is at the door
the bugle boy
has ushered in a dreadful age
nigh the horses are riding
it is terrible and great times we are in
I saw a child before me
he traveled a treacherous journey
spoke a language
not known to the human race
with a voice understood
not heard
uttered it's finished
I closed my eyes
& reopened them
witnessed him transform
into a wise old man
he opened a door before me
said "go in"
I crossed the threshold
felt the power of the place
& awoke

Oh boy! You gave us mystery upon mystery, Brenda. This poem hearkened me back to the "beat" poetry I used to hear in the "Village," when I lived in New York back in tha day. Few words, but each and every one carries a simple, but important message to its audience. I like this very much. Down to earth even though it seemed surreal.

thank you graciously Jerry I could just imagine listening to the beat poets would be wonderful.. yes I've been shown what some of this symbolizes but not all as of yet.. so in part a mystery to me as well :) love Brenda

I don't even know what to say about this one, Brenda, other than holy smokes. There is far more behind your words here than meets the eye, I think. Very much enjoyed! Much love... :)

The Door seems spiritual/mystical. I'm seeing these visions in my dreams. I'm walking through a door of my own! It's a fascinating journey, is it not? ;) What a thought provoker! Nice work, Brenda!

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece - we are in strange and difficult times - your poem leaves me with one abiding question -who got the moon pregnant?

It's kind of like you're describing what your emotions are seeing as you go through an epiphany as if emotions has eyes. Very mystical I love it. Nicely written poetry.
