Remembrance Day
I remembered the ones
I could remember
My struggle was nothing
Against theirs
I felt guilty again
I spoke grateful words
Silently to myself
For them and me
Their sacrifices
Greater than mine
Mustn't compare
War widows quietly
Withered under shade
Sun belting down
Stazi stood in front
Red capped
I watched carefully
Feeling quite sure
They'd seen me
And others too
An old choir sang
A young orchestra played
And we remembered
I remembered the ones
I could remember
My struggle was nothing
Against theirs
I felt guilty again
I spoke grateful words
Silently to myself
For them and me
Their sacrifices
Greater than mine
Mustn't compare
War widows quietly
Withered under shade
Sun belting down
Stazi stood in front
Red capped
I watched carefully
Feeling quite sure
They'd seen me
And others too
An old choir sang
A young orchestra played
And we remembered
