Remembrance Day
I remembered the ones
I could remember

My struggle was nothing
Against theirs
I felt guilty again

I spoke grateful words
Silently to myself
For them and me

Mustn't compare

War widows quietly
Withered under shade
Sun belting down

Stazi stood in front
Red capped
I watched carefully

Feeling quite sure
They'd seen me
And others too

An old choir sang
A young orchestra played
And we remembered
