A Choir Of One
Sun drips her smile off my cheek
interrupting moments weak
a hummingbird hovers
outside the pane
of my half-opened window
trying to capture the drops
of sugar falling off my lips
but no one wants to hear a choir of one
even if filled with love
notes sour
in an empty breeze
no apparent harmony
salt seeks her home
recover what's seen
backdrop to discovery
Stolen dreams drift off without me
watched under the heat of day
burnt into oblivion
under two-bit glass
cutting at the heart of tomorrow
I sing a pretty song
as the sun silently disappears
Votre amour est tenu dans ces yeux
interrupting moments weak
a hummingbird hovers
outside the pane
of my half-opened window
trying to capture the drops
of sugar falling off my lips
but no one wants to hear a choir of one
even if filled with love
notes sour
in an empty breeze
no apparent harmony
salt seeks her home
recover what's seen
backdrop to discovery
Stolen dreams drift off without me
watched under the heat of day
burnt into oblivion
under two-bit glass
cutting at the heart of tomorrow
I sing a pretty song
as the sun silently disappears
Votre amour est tenu dans ces yeux

Love Campanella. This is very nice, Tim. It has an antiquity to its feel. The romantics entwined with the moderns.

It is...Funny the inspiration started with the sun shining for the first time in a week and a comment I made on a poem earlier in the day....It was floating around my mind

I had to reread it a few times to let it fully sink in...
It's a layered one with some beautiful imagery
"Stolen dreams drift off without me" > my favorite line!
Un beau poème, mon ami :-)

A deep ache within, while reading this piece.
The imagery is so very potent.
You can feel the sun, and taste the tears.
Achingly...beautiful.

Your words are digging into my ragged heart and echoing my own pain. Beautifully written, fully felt.
