Ubuntu
me and myself
not the only two
world is more than
just me and you
live and let live
thrive and let thrive
leave all to their belief
survive and let survive
these words of elders
no way they are mine
in dark they're shelters
standing up to the times
easy to say hard to follow
easy to bite hard to swallow
untill they're observed
these words are absurd
me and myself
not the only two
world is more than
just me and you
come let's discover
true ubuntu!

True words of wisdom KD, if only the world was more aligned with those sentiments. Great pen brother.

I believe most of us naturally hold same or similar views just we don't express them often. This one's just a reminder to self more than anything else. Welcome dear bro Anon! Thank you so much my bro for the compliment and visiting with me.

Fantastic write KDAmB! The issues you address and the way you provide such clarity for the readers is simply brilliant.
How great would it be if we could live in harmony and always be kind to one another without the ego or religion getting in the way...it's like you say in these lines...

Welcome Dear Friend FC!
Thank you so much for the kind appreciation and insight. I sincerely appreciate both. Yes, it would be wonderful indeed if we could live in harmony, no harm trying our best or doing our bit to get there.
thanks once again!

Such an amazing write! One that really resonates with my view on the world...
I like that the first stanza came back in the end... it makes the poem even stronger!
In Lak'ech :-)

Welcome dear friend Duende!
glad to see you here and welcome both your visit and kind words. Glad that we share the beautiful view. In Lak'ech Ala K'in indeed! :-)
well, the first stanza just had to comeback/repeat, just like the poem itself (which contains nothing new that we didn't knew) is but a friendly reminder to self.
Thank you so much Friend!

Ubuntu indeed, Birdman. I enjoyed the flow of this very much. Great rhythm and rhyme. Almost read as a child's nursery rhyme, where true and ancient wisdom comes from.

Ubuntu off course Sage One!
am glad you enjoyed the read my respected friend. This is nothing but a compliment for me about the read resembling a nursery rhyme. Big fan of them, people may disagree but that too is poetry. :-)
Without the wisdom of our ancestors where would we be today my friend.. this is just their gift to us..
Thank You so much for the visit and kind compliments dear friend!

this is one of those "if only." poems that leaves me sad and angry - sad in that it makes me think about the futility of mankind's endeavours and angry in that it doesn't have to be this way - sadness usually wins because it does have to be this way because the majority of human beings are in my view worse than animals. On that happy note I did really enjoy your poem and wish at the back of my mind that it could ever be true:-)
thanks for activating my grey matter :-)

"standing upto the times" - up to is two words, don't know if that might have been missed.
There's something lovely about these little rhyming snippets, that I have found myself dabbling in a lot lately. This is a beautiful example of rhyme really working. I'm a fan of a "kick it to the man" poem as much as the next person... and also cool that you want to share it so freely.
Thank you for the read.

Welcome dear Missy!
Thank you for the correction! I welcome you and your help always!
Well, am elated to learn, this rhyme does some justice to the thoughts attempted to convey using it.
I felt selfish to claim copyright to the universal wisdom here and more than that it'd defeat the purpose and the intent behind the message. If one person changes their mind on just a single occasion before a hateful act, then my effort would be paid a million times over.
Once again my sincere thanks for the visit, kind appreciation and not the least helpful correction!! :-)
kind regards
KDAmB

The dynamics of social relations---the individual, the dyad, and the larger community, including elders. Intriguing composition.
