serendipity depends on more than orchestrated dreams
We walked alone, depleted
waiting for our worlds to collide
all I needed was one day,
one smile, one touch
for you to bring me back to life
restore the confidence that was taken
replace the memories
I couldn’t escape without the malice
and might of addiction knocking
against the corners of my mind
All my fears and reservations
subsided that night
slammed against the side of your car
in salacious animalism
and I can’t say for sure
that I knew then that this was love
but I couldn’t deny the way
my bones ached for you
Your distance becomes an insatiable itch
only you can satiate
and I fight the urge to constantly message you
just to say “hey, I’m thinking about you
I can’t get you off my mind”
and the moments I’m not with you
lengthen into an eternity
forgotten again when I find myself
in your embrace
We walked alone, depleted
waiting for our worlds to collide
all I needed was one day
