sweet sin
I hurt you
a tongue laced with arsenic
poisoned your tender soul
licked at soft spots
not meant for the likes of me
I'm the devil
corrupt from the inside out
where I go demons follow
with spells cast
the darkest magic
spills from my lips
I curl in on myself
for causing you pain
swallow the razors I spit
they slice and cut as they go down
thoughts like acid
burn my skin
as I face the mirror
see the monster I can be
sweet sin
cotton candy wrapped switchblade
I'm the devil
corrupt from the inside out
where I go demons follow
see the monster I can be
sweet sin
cotton candy wrapped switchblade

I will never quite look at cotton candy the same again. You've woven a staggering tapestry here. I can never see you the way your words would have me believe. You're too beautiful inside for me to see it. And you never disappoint with your writing.

Purely diabolical. You prove the devil was the most beautiful of angels.

I love this piece so much. The imagery is strong, bold and dark all at the same time. I especially love the last two stanzas/verses. A good write.

poisonous poetry, Crim,
venom hidden by the cotton candy,
but it puts me in a circus mood...

Re. sweet sin
First off: I was fascinated by the picture... I kept staring at it before reading your poem!
The poem exceeded my expectations though I should know by now that you never dissapoint ;-)
It's dark, it's strong, it's you! I really like the repetitions... it suits the poem perfectly (as does the picture) Great ink, dear Crim!
Love, Duende

Cotton candy wrapped switchblade is a perfect description of sin, Brenda. Because it does present itself as something sticky sweet that we can barely resist. It only reveals itself once we've taken a bite. It sours in our mouths before we can spit it out. Words words words, as much as I love them in poetry, I can do without them in dialogue. You simply can't take them back once they're been uttered, can you? But you can choose to understand the contrast of human experience that makes us so appreciate the authentic expressions of genuine caring and Love.

Re: Re. sweet sin
thank you dearest Sage One for the wisdom in your comment.. that's exactly what this poem is about spitting ugly words which once uttered can't be taken back it is indeed like poison to those that hear them and can be spread like a disease.. I really need to get a leash on my tongue.. I deeply appreciate your insight on this write..

This is demonic but delightful, the blade being offered with spun sugar.
I'm the devil
corrupt from the inside out
where I go demons follow
see the monster I can be
sweet sin
cotton candy wrapped switchblade
A monster with sweetly concealed weaponry. They'll never see it coming Crim.
