It was inspired by my favorite poem, but also by the many poems I read here and the many women who struggle with life, their past, heartache and insecurities... all of a sudden I saw myself in other stories and this one needed to be written :-)

But... you are right: this is for ALL women!

I like the way you transform what are usually considered to be personality flaws into assets.  Volatility can be passion!  You must be the most supportive of friends, Duende.  You seem to have a kind and non-critical heart.  The poem's a marvel in its wording and structure, blossoming like an orchid.  Fine work!

That first sentence...  transforming what are considered to be flaws into assets is what I wanted to reveal in this poem! It took me years and years of struggling to accept myself (still not fully there yet) to be able to see that being different doesn't mean being a failure...

I know men need the same, but this poem was inspired by a poem for women and also by some women I met here and some poems I've read here...  
 
Maybe I will write a male version one day ;-)

This is a beautiful piece Duende. I love it from start to finish (and the image goes quite nicely with it). I really like Warsan Shire myself (some of her work is featured in Beyoncé's Lemonade visual album). I really like the piece you are talking about. Quite lovely.

Amazing and truly self-giving writing a poem for the "strong-driven" women who are often misunderstood and overlooked.  As the Author of Orchid, you give them a sense to belong, to be accepted, and a place of recognition and honor where otherwise they are like outcasts peeping from the outside as the prim and fragile win the hearts of suitors.
