Image for the poem Not so much

Not so much

Today fatigue cracked
the hull of energy

Unconstrained light
dimly vented from
the creamy embryo

Its membrane coagulated
into something pliable
a gelatinous mortar binding
the paralysis of disaster

Your voice in the wilderness
carbonized with exhaustion
suppressing heartbreak
with flailing promises of hope

Not that it was actual Truth
except for inevitable hope –
(because we all know
hope is ever-present)
But, for my personal benefit
that I not worry so much

I wouldn't tell you I knew
not that it wasn't actual Truth
(because we all know Love
sacrifices, covers a multitude...)
But, for your personal benefit
that you not worry so much
~

Authors note: I feel like I'm in shock over this loss to our beautiful mountains. Completely numb. They've saved my life more than once. I was told it was between 55,000 - 60,000 acres now. That's between 10-15,000 acres in 24 hours, which should give you an idea of how voracious these fires are. Over 2000 firefighters now. Dangerous breathing conditions. Pray for our mountains, pray for rain, pray for those working around the clock to contain the flames.
