A Dark Heart Warns
~~You delved into my depths
beholding great beauty and passion there~~

went deeper
my demons
are out tonight
I warned of their presence

you opened doors
ventured corridors
best left
empty
lost yourself in my maze

a face of madness warns
"Get out!"
"turn back before it's too late"
***
"I'm chained here
you're free to leave
here's the last bit of heart shine I have left
should light your way out of this decrepit place"

"don't get swayed by tempters of these wastelands
they've lured more than one man to his demise"

"sex demons with an appetite for souls
will keep you here in a macabre collection
until you are but a ghoul haunting the grounds
with a hunger for playthings of your own"

Maybe you should take a look at the sixth stanza.
This is one of your better writes, and THAT
is saying something indeed. I admit I wasn't
prepared for the inner dialogue warning this
man to flee. Go back! Eh, don't suppose he

macabre collection - I love the alliteration in that. The entire verse is a weave of warning....and yet, beckoning at the same time.

reminds me of a book i read
in the Dune series
where this one particular race of people
would set a trap for you
