For Our Love...A Requiem

It was a collage of
Could haves
Should haves
Would haves....
That just racked my brain
The pain of leaving you
Left a stain
Beneath my chest
This second guess
Is weighing me down with
Too much regret...
For not accepting your offering of a crown
I should have bought you that wedding gown
We could have easily escaped out of town
To seek our justice of the peace

Just us

You and I
With a new lease on life
Husband and wife
Running away like boy and girl
Taking spontaneous cruises
Around the world
Toasting and coasting
Between a sky deep with indigo blues
And a shimmering ocean hiding
The secret of pearls
Where we exchange vows again
In the night time
The right time
With the constellations shining
As your bridesmaids
And the moon would give you away to me
I would take you by the hand
And alone we would dance
To the soft music of midnight waters
I would twirl you
Dip you
Grip you back into my arms
Slip you a kiss
So nice...
So warm....

The kiss of a lifetime....

That never came to be
My name I never gave to thee
Children that we'd never get to see
The pain just remained
Too deep
Our dreams never reaped
Passion never sowed
Because I owed it to my family
So I pretend to live happily
Stuck between the
Realms of memories
And make believe
Lamenting on
All the days
When
I ...

Could have...

Should have...

Would have.....

Came back to you...

But didn't.
