Later

Your car smells like leather and smoke

But it’s where I go when don’t want to be alone

So the clouds can pass by in the dark

And the fog can drift around my heart

I won’t have to think

I won’t have to remember

I can get lost in your drink

And then miss you when I’m sober

You’re never in jeans, your pants crisp and clean

I lay by your side while you make time between

Business and pleasure, work and spare time

In the blank space around the bottles of wine

I won’t have to think

I won’t have to remember

I can get lost in your drink

And then miss you when I’m sober

The places we go are cloudy and addicting

With colors and food that are made for relaxing

So I can take it all in, even with eyes half closed

And trace my fingertips around oysters and time

I won’t have to think

I won’t have to remember

I can get lost in your drink

And then miss you when I’m sober

The cigar scent can curl and wisp into the stars

While music reminds me of late nights and bars

I won’t have to think

I won’t have to remember

I can get lost in your drink

And then miss you when I’m sober
