Father's Land, Mother's Song

.
I follow ponies 'cross the stream
While as they drink among the reeds,
Spring-choked water, stiff-backed stems
That pull upon my buckskin hem.

The sunset air alights the glow
With only sounds of currents' flow.
Of dandelions' lazy rush
To graze across my cheeks their blush.

I step upon my Father's land,
The water from my leggings' ran
While on a journey heading home,
And I with Mother's song to roam.

For there ahead of me I hear
The lilting weep of Mother's tears
Where lodges of ghost shaman stood,
And songs that did her people good.
.
