Stranger In The Wind

I saw you standing there alone
Deep in thought
With the whole world on your shoulders
Eyes looking for the solution to a problem not your own

I wanted to go to you
Place the palm of my hand on the side of your cheek
And whisper softly in your ear
That everything would be alright

I wanted to kiss the fullness of your lips
And if but for a moment
Take away the cares
And the worries of your world

I wanted simply to hold your hand
And walk you into a place of rest
A temporary escape from your stress
To a place of peace

I wanted to put a smile on your face
Replace the furrow of your brow
With the curve of a smile
And dimples so deep

Because beneath it all
I saw a longing to be free
A craving for the purest sense of joy
I sensed a heart waiting to be loved
To the depth of its core

And I knew I could
That every part of me would
But I waited silently in the wings
Because I dare not mess with fate
You see, I am not your angel, assigned
Just a stranger in the wind
Who just happened to be passing by
