Caterpillars
Caterpillars of your mind,
Nibbling at bad metaphors,
Before turning into butterflies
Of delusion.
Eyes and teeth hurting,
Like there's someone new
Back there, poking around,
Going to come through,
Going to say something
That will give you both away.
Caterpillars of your mind;
Furry accordions on slow
Thought-journeys across
The leaves and branches
Of experience,
Quietly hoping to not get
Eaten by giant birds.
Nibbling at bad metaphors,
Before turning into butterflies
Of delusion.
Eyes and teeth hurting,
Like there's someone new
Back there, poking around,
Going to come through,
Going to say something
That will give you both away.
Caterpillars of your mind;
Furry accordions on slow
Thought-journeys across
The leaves and branches
Of experience,
Quietly hoping to not get
Eaten by giant birds.
