The Moon Invited Us In

And the moon invited us in
Still shadows are cast in the dead of night
And the glare of wisdom, enlighten those with sight
And the moon invited us in
As lovers entwined in perceptive sin
Not all life sleeps, when the sun goes down
Not all petals fold, under the night queens crown
And the moon invited us in
Nocturnal survival of the nighttime din
A call on the wind, a cat on the prowl
A fox playing slyly, as guard dog growls
And the moon invited us in
As predators seek food with the wights and the Jin
Screeches on the night, the beat of wings
Dark places vacated, the towers of kings
Lonely souls relieved of their toil
Fly outward and upward, body's dressed in soil
And the moon invited us in
Silent the seasons pass, she smiles with her grin
Come the day, remorse for our queen
Her beauteous night, few have seen
She holds her majesty on show for the crowd
They all know she's there, but their fears disallowed
And the moon still invite us in
