The Making of a Prince
As dirty as rock, as pure as iconic tween pop.
As furious as jazz and funk on the scene.
A Prince.
Suspended between plebians and royalty,
a tease eroticizing the average woman and man and reintroducing the fantasy
to love and sex.
At mid-arousal.
Because he could only be seen through purple film,
through the sacredness of a song of Solomon,
through Jehovah's gift of a companion to a secluded Adam.
The sex was holy.
The music was holy and right
and child-like.
High shoes, unbuttoned shirt,
and shy undertone carrying him home after a rock and rolling night.
Never leave Minneapolis,
not even when God's reaper takes you back
to mix you in with his soul.
Walking conundrum with a unicorn microphone.
Prince sprinkled the Tinker Bell riches over the folks.
A Prince.
Suspended between plebians and royalty.
Unassuming, just a symbol, not a name.
Each flicker of life is God orgasming from praise,
and Heaven is where we meet at the shores of his release.
