Words for Word
I heard,
in the beginning was the word
before the earth started spinning
the congregation nod,
that the word was with God
occurred before we needed linen
before our innocence dissolved,
when they bit the apple and we evolved
and He lowered his gable
passing a judgement of pain,
before blood started to call Cain
as a tower of words tumbled to babble
the psalms that drift on my breath,
while I step through the valley of death
fearing no evil
that may spark,
the phrases ferried on the Ark
during the Flood’s upheaval
stored in,
waters baptizing Christ from the river Jordan
stream in the blood the Savior bleed
on the field like a fountain
say I can move a mountain
if I have the faith as a mustard seed...
