Your Memory

At times I feel you near even when you've long ago gained your wings.
Like a gentle morning breeze, you flow to my mind and remind me of times when the sun in the sky shone bright and I find myself once again lost in your emerald gaze.
Like a clearing amid all of the fog that clogs my memories of you,
Once again putting you into focus, closer, in to view.
Pictures faded with the age of time, discolored from the dampness of tears long since dried,
Come back to life as your essence floods my mind.
Flowers long ago dried out and crumbled amid pages somehow bloom anew as they set behind your ears,
I walk to hold you close once more and you turn to shadows and blow away from me once again,
And I beg for you to stop, beckon you to stay, but you leave taking with you the beauty that is my love for you, your shadow blows away with the breeze, and the darkness that is my lonliness takes hold of me, your memory lives on and so I live as well, but living without holding you is nothing short of hell.
