Skirting and Flirting
I can’t improve your mind, I have to say
You’ve honed it to a formidable state;
Your strength of purpose makes me hesitate
To entertain you with the time of day;
But still I will regale you and I’ll play
With your thoughts: I’ll enjoy them as I wait
For you to speak again as I relate
The aftershock of your latest pensé;
You may judge from the outside, do you care
To do more than amuse yourself? You strain
My patience in a fashion as you skirt
The bitterness that I refrain to share,
As I hold back romancing and remain
Inclined to laugh, though you’re inclined to flirt.
