FRAGMENTS OF RAINBOW

Another watercolour day
Of Lake District gray
Slate and spray
Painted in May

Fragments of rainbow, staining the clouds, fade, as the dark, comes conquering
Rising and falling, splashing the rocks, waves, tinted black, strike harder now
Dreams, never ending, and stories, and changing, day light and night light, and patterns arranging

Forever emerging, slowly the leaves, push, as the rain, drops splattering
Lifting and drifting, smoke in the dusk, twirls, as the moon shines brighter now
Light, ever changing, and starting, and ending, sun light and moon light, and bat wings ascending

It’s a pastel shaded sight
Of black and of white
Of dark and of bright
And shadows taking flight
