Green doused the Fire
blazing a trail into her heart
his words with bouquets of hopes
spoken in softest poetry
enchanted the armour off her mind
around the blazing fire danced
the meeting lovers court
a play for words a flirt for minds
to meet to gaze to fall in love
rings of roses strings of clovers
prayers for love from lady luck
destiny proved a fickle mistress
the green eyed dragon awoken
the blazing fire in ashes now
pan had stopped his courting dance
his horn broken with despair
the vine dried before the bloom.

Grace,
Enjoyed they way you danced around this one (even with the broken flute). What is it about green.....

Hi Tornado...jealousy, my dear, can break the ...ahem..horn of any Pan. :) and douse any fire of desire. This poem was inspired by a very short fiery fling by someone I know....thank you for being with me.

And I quote, "Like all true love, one day it withered on down the vine." I enjoyed this write. The man who had it had it all and had nothing.

etroPaL_noveD, and I am with you on that. True love however can evolve beyond and above the green eyed monster aka jealousy and possessiveness. Thank you so much for reading.

I think it helps to express pain in fantasy terms at times. I was hoping for a happy ending, but I love this anyway. Excellent work Grace!

Hi Crowfly:) true happy endings are always so much nicer. But for this particular couple it wasn't... Good while it lasted though. Thanks for reading me as always.

Very well written tale of ancient destruction. It's brought down kingdoms as well as individual relationships
before their gardens ever had time to bloom.

A well written story, Grace
If only love could have the depth to rise above the green monster. It kills so much!
