a golden heart
A heart of gold, with eyes that could kill.
Working hard two weeks for a one hundred dollar bill.
Mattresses and no rails, with seven dollars left to his name...
Ramen was on the menu again, with only his mother to blame.
It was the jokes and the fact that he stood out that made him change,
The way he pictured his future... He didn't want a price range.
That heart was gold though, with a temper so frightening, his veins popped and glowed.
It didn't matter if it was legal or no...
Without a father to show him right, and a mother who always left...
Dirty money felt clean when he had those new sneakers on,
invading homes in search for a new TV to pawn.
That heart was so golden though, give him a chance and your mind would blow.
Putting trust in the wrong girl created the monster I was left to deal with, that anger and lack of trust took a toll...
Those soft eyes, turned so angry, yelling in misery... "Why?" He asked God, "Why don't you like me?"
Those same hands that wrapped around me, those same eyes that cried his love to me... It was those same arms that destroyed, hurt, and took from the innocent...
Those same eyes that would make you turn away in fear...
I would question his upbringing, that girl, and his world...
He'd turn away from me, I silently wiped his tears.
That heart was so gold though, I looked over it all, soft spoken with a beautiful mind, that dangerous and painful past is what made him thankful to be mine.
But I was thankful to be his. He showed me different, a dark type of bliss.
But a man like that, whose been hurt and down bad, the most Loyal man I had ever met.
This was an unexpected gift, my golden heart that God has sent.
