tramp aria
make love in the moonlight
pretend that it’s art
then cross the x’s
in my heart
come to me naked
get down on your knees
let the hurt blow away
in a hellion breeze
we shoot down the stars
with the riffs of our song
run away from the chains
and take me along
our karma is written
in an ode of despair
ripe as the gutter
and raw as the air
we sail with the wind
on a wingless flight
to surrender the days
and lay down with the night

I'm going to try reading this while listening to "Carmen." This is operatic in the best sense, beautifully worded and rhymed. The tramp is a lady whatever the karma.

Nicely worded, John, especially the second to last stanza . I dig the musicality of the piece and as one who's written a few lyrics as well I might suggest maybe adding two syllables before "heart" in the first stanza to even out the flow of the song. . As always your talent is inspiring.

I loved this piece Mr. F. It reads with such a musical presence that I had to look to make sure it wasn't a song lyric. It could be one, and a wonderful one at that.

You created the dance with the rhyme of the verse and no one could resist joining with their own start-shot song. Love the discipline of form.

This makes a good Groupie/Rock Star vibe; I always enjoy reading the UnNoir of your side which only proves you're poetically versatile. . .And yes, you are still the Noir King. . .~xo, Devlin.
