Ambivalence
I can't remember when I abjured love
at first it was unconcious
love wasn't much in evidence;
and then, after failed attempts to find it
the decision became, well, concious
lust, love's fucked-up bedmate
was next up for the chop;
lust gets a person going
going with others
others you wouldn't look at sideways
in the abscence of lust
and for that very reason
I abjured lust as well;
but lust's a toughie to eradicate
(though I have a program of control)
see, lust's in with dumb biology
and rears its stupid head
even without inspiration
and just because it can
but lust is growing weaker
with time, and as biology loses strength
so I'm thankful (mostly);
though I've heard - lust will reinvigorate
if love comes charging in...
