Pigeons on the crab tree

Two pigeons on the crab tree
as the sun rose from the night
ripening berries swallowed whole
before the blackbird and the crow
No thought for the 'morrow
live today  .  .  .  .  .  .
there'll be more on Tuesday
if not there'll be nettles, maybe
bread in the market square.
Nature will supply,swallow what
you can and while you can,
indulge the bounty that is earth.
