- - - I AM THE DARKNESS - - -
Is the beginning there was darkness
The shadow swirled in infinite ink
I’ve waited for eyes to truly see
Eternity eclipsed in madness
With the night comes the howling of beasts
The creatures of the night, delightful
Weave beneath the moon, insightful
The great calling, “Come all to the feast”
And there I stood
Wishing that I could
Take a part in the heart
Of the culling
In the darkened wood
Exist as a configuration
Constant shifting with the tides of time
A goblet filled with a bitter wine
Listen to twisted narration
From a creator insipid, cruel
Spitting being into form, jaded
A killer instinct bred of hatred
Empires forged from bloodshed and jewels
But one cold fact remains
I exist in sadness, heartless
Throughout time known by one name
I am, I am the darkness
Becoming one with death rituals
To be stored in clay canopic jars
To be carried, bravely, into wars
Displayed in visceral visuals
My face will remain in your nightmares
The child inside you is screaming out
In long forgotten terror refound
I am those sounds beneath the stairs
And here I wait
I cannot sedate
Dread you feel, yes it’s real
Tears are falling
Hunger I can’t sate
The thoughts that sound in cemeteries
Lover’s suicide, death of a child
The lost vespers whispered from the wild
An audience of adversaries
Crematoriums and testaments
A parent’s will revealed empty, void
The haunted remembrance of their voice
I listen, eagerly, to laments
And one cold fact remains
I exist in promise, carcass
Throughout time known by one name
I am, I am the darkness
Rain falls, fat and heavy
On a winter grave
A single rose resembles
Thoughts of the day
And what may come
With the night
But one cold fact remains
I exist in sadness, heartless
Throughout time known by one name
I am, I am the darkness
The early morning
Before sunrise
You may glimpse
Upon the pure darkness
That I am
