letting her guard down
Smiling; she listens
A whiner in $400.00 shoes
Knowingly, she frowns
Sad for the person
Telling a tail of sorrow
While helpless people
Starve without reason

I've read your poem various times and got lost in it.
Spontaneously, and I might not get it right, but I have a mental picture of a homeless man I once saw in Vancouver, that one sleeping on a metro air vent, having nothing but a newspaper underneath him, nothing on him but the clothes he was wearing. I hear people complaining about vanities, forgetting those who've lost everything...

A friend donates her weekends organizing volunteers and cooking for the homeless. She is a hero amongst us.
