It was nice to come home
lay my gun on the table
sit down and just take a breath
and be relieved I made it one more day
she would grab me a beer open it
and sit down right next to me
cross-legged and asking about my day,
I would say I'm alive and your happy
that's all that matters to me,
she would curl up on my body
and hold me almost mourning
she would look up at me at random times
with sad eyes and say she loved me
that no one is going to take me,
