The Strongest Emotion

I thrive on feeling sadness as if it's medication.
I let the tears out to avoid a confrontation.
Sadness is the strongest emotion I can feel.
Sadness makes me seem as if I'm actually real.

It brings together all of my human traits.
Caring, yearning, and maybe even lost faith.
The tears on my cheeks let me know I'm alive.
The pain in my eyes lets me know and decide.

I choose whether it makes me or breaks me.
I choose whether I stop dreaming or believe.
I can reach the stars or fall out of the sky.
I can accept the truth or believe all the lies.

Heartbreak lets me know I'm actually here.
It makes me stronger and extinguishes my fear.
A life given to take another.
A baby given to a mother.

A life taken is another given.
A life given is another taken.
