woman at the well
I’ve travelled a long time
slept on the ground
I’ve eaten what nature provided
the wind is my only companion
and loneliness is large
larger than the desert
out of the dark I found this place
the woman at the well
my throat was laced with the road’s dust
I did not speak
but she gave me water
cool & pure in an earthenware cup
I found warmth & tranquility
here I will rest, in the shade of her beauty
she will teach me things
the songs of birds where the valley begins
the parables of the story tree
un-worded poetry, if we listen to the wind
how a woman makes an amphora
and draws water from the well
but a man only drinks
then she walked away
water bearer she is
but she carries so much more…

Finally rest for the weary traveler. The woman provides both water and comfort before he continues on his way. A fine, gentle write with a different kind of femme.

A beautiful tale - nothing like the woman who gives you water when all you've had is wine

"the songs of birds where the valley begins
the parables of the story tree
un-worded poetry, if we listen to the wind" - .. . Very much enjoyed the tranquility that's resting within the lines you've crafted here! It feels as though the wanderer drew nearer to an exquisite purity. Always a pleasure, blue angel

I really like the poem a lot, as usual, JF. It's outstanding. I think this one will go into my RL for sure.

See thy root was here as well. .
so touching.. really no words
for something like that.
We just give because its a sense
of nurturing ..
