Darkness raining
Straining eyes
Lies chokin’
Unspoken truths
Loose lips
Hips swaying
Saying, “come,
Dumb enchanted.”
Slanted news
Views imposed
In those who hear
Fear as opposed to
Supposed-to-be
Free minded
Blinded sheeple
People that
Sat idly
Widely following
The swallowing, defecation
And re-ingestation of the truth
The Youth, force-fed
Heads infected
Injected with fallacies
Realities molested
Digested by MTV
While empty teens
seem dumbfounded
surrounded by bliss
this ignorance
is a hinderance to progress
we know less than ever
never questioning
the reckoning of so called facts
put forth by democrats...
and republicans
they're both ruffians
nothing more than high-class Crips and Bloods
thugs with loot hid in three piece suits
We need to give them both the boot
because those forked tongues
done sung too many songs
and wronged too many rights
got the whole world caught up in a fight
half full of snakes, the other half rats
They've got all the Facts tainted
Painted in flattering hues

Feds or revolutionists,
Illusionist religions or atheistic magicians

Thanks for reading. I'm glad that you caught the part. I think it's somewhat ironic that they even claim the same colors (blue and red). In another rendering of the poem I colored the word to make it clearer. Thanks again for your time.

A fine piece of writing and welcome to Du .Take care with Du criticism is not a strong quality on this site Most comments are bland.There two sides to a poem .The structure as a work of art and substance your seem to prefer free verse remember free verse needs structure as much as traditional styles or else it fails to stand.May I suggest you edit and extend the lines.and feel the beat of the text find the cadences,the ebb and flow, the give and take of speech with its inflections. This poem is packed with emotions and philosophies perhaps too packed.Well done Kexby

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. When I wrote this, I was playing around with a weird rhyme scheme in that I was trying to go with two-sound lines beginning each line with a rhyme of the ending from the previous (I.e. raining-straining, eyes-lies, lips-hips, etc.). It was written to be spoken, but I have a bit of a mumbling issue and I don't think I can ever really get it to sound how i hear it in my head.

I like your rhyming scheme Remember as I think you will ,that Shakespear would abandon a rhyming scheme or rhythm when it suited him ! I have you on my list of poets so if you wish we can talk about writing privately.

I enjoyed this piece and how it broke down societal issues and the circus of politics. Excellent delivery as well which suits the mood of the topics perfectly. I look forward to more.

Nice job, Moe. You've got a cool cadence going in this insightful and feisty piece. Have you tried your hand at slam poetry readings ? I am not crazy about slam's competitive nature but this piece seems like it may rock that sort of setting. Keep up the good work !

Thanks, Tony. I have never had the opportunity to slam, but I admit that it is something that I've always wanted to do. But there isn't anything around where I am.
