Lonely Love Song
seen from my window
flickering lights on distant hills
hamlet shrouded in grey dusk
time for rest and sleep
and to dream of what can be
cicadas call growing louder
drumbeats with guitar strums
by frogs on lotus leaves
annoying insects trying to sleep
companions of many nights
outside of my window
dancing moths, disoriented dragonflies
flying fast into the light
fading silhouette of trees
into the mists they go
as night comes in earnest
to relief sun of her duty
and I looking out of the window
find comfort in the shroud
of twilight that hide my loneliness
conscious thoughts before slumber.
